Biography Guess Who

This week Room 5 students have been learning how to write biographies. A biography is when you write about somebody else's life. Each student in Room 5 interviewed a classmate about their life and then wrote a biography about that person. We decided to delete their names so that you would have to try and guess who the biography is about. Here are a couple of finished ones.

What are your Character Strengths?

This week Room 5 learnt about Character Strengths. Scientists have identified 24 character strengths, that when practiced and developed can lead to a more meaningful life. Room 5 have been trying to identify our own character strengths as well as our peers. We all have certain strengths which should be celebrated, and we can use these to help others and learn from one another. So ask yourself, what are your character strengths? AND... what are the character strengths that you would like to develop further?

ANZAC Art silhouettes

It was a busy first week back at school and it finished off with a Kauri whanau assembly. Room 5 shared their ANZAC artwork. We are pretty pleased with them.

ANZAC silhouette artwork

Room 5 learnt how to paint a sunrise. It was not easy trying to blend the colours. We then cut out silhouettes of soldiers. Here are some of the finished ones.

Anzac biscuits

After learning about ANZAC during the week, Room 5 made ANZAC biscuits. Women made these biscuits and sent them to the soldiers at war on big navy ships. These are special biscuits because they are tasty and can last for a long time.

Click here for the ANZAC biscuit recipe, and to find out what Room 5 kids thought about them.
